Lesson plan
Introduction (10 mins.) T hangs some flashcards on the board to introduce the type of school violence. T points out each flashcard one by one and elicits or teaches the vocabulary. Ss identify the type of school violence. Then, T elicit from Ss the verbs in each image. Verbs: Fight, punch, hit, hurt, threaten, ignore, reject, name-call, humiliate, punish, intimidate, touch, spread, etc. Development (25 mins.) T explains to the Ss what violence is and gives examples. T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to match some pictures and school problems. After that, Ss match pictures of people having school issues with the correct descriptions. T checks Ss’ answers with the whole class. Consolidation (10 mins.) Ss discuss and rank their school problems related to violence. Ss justify their answer orally. Conclusion (5 mins.) T provides any correction needed on Ss’ production and use of language. Homework: Ss solve a crossword. Introduction (10 mins.) First, T show pictures depicting different factors contributing to violence (e.g., a picture of a student being bullied, a family in poverty, a stressed student). Then, T asks Ss to describe what they see and guess how it might relate to violence in schools. Development (20 mins.) T asks Ss to match a list of words with their definitions. Then, Ss complete some sentences describing causes of violence. Consolidation (15 mins.) Ss read some statements about school violence and decide if they are true or false. Conclusion (5 mins.) Ss reflect on the topic and express personal opinions. Homework: Draw a picture showing one factor that can contribute to violence in schools. |
