What types of violence do you know?
What are the causes of school violence?
How can we stop violence in schools?
Development (20 mins.)
T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to match some pictures and descriptions.
After that, Ss match sentences with implicit information. T checks Ss’ answers with the whole class.
Consolidation (15 mins.)
Ss read a short about rejection of school violence and answer some comprehension questions.
Conclusion (5 mins.)
T provides any correction needed on Ss’ production and use of language.
Homework: Ss solve a crossword.

Session 2

Introduction (10 mins.)
T starts with a short discussion about violence in schools. T asks Ss “What do you know about school violence?” and “Why is it a problem?” T elicits answers from Ss and write key vocabulary on the board. Then, T shows a picture of a school and a pie chart with a statistic (e.g. “30% of students experience bullying”). T asks Ss to guess what the chart shows, asking “What percentage of Ss feel unsafe at school?”.
T teaches vocabulary like “percent”, “pie chart”, “proportion”, “segment”, “title”, “labels”, “whole”, “increased”, “decreased”, “grow”, “reduction”, etc. Ss take notes.
Development (20 mins.)
T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to complete sentences using linking words. Ss check their answers in pair before feedback.
Ss order sentences to make paragraphs. T checks Ss’ answers and then asks them to write the paragraphs in their notebooks.
Consolidation (15 mins.)
T provides Ss with 6 charts and asks Ss to describe what they show.  Ss check their answers in pair before feedback.
Conclusion (5 mins.)
T provides any correction needed on Ss’ production and use of language.
Homework: Research how violence has changed in schools over the last 5 years and write 3 sentences about the trends you find. Draw a bar chart showing the increase or decrease in cases during this period.
