Introduction (5 mins.) T starts the class writing the question, “What does school violence mean to you?” on the board. T elicits responses and list keywords (e.g., bullying, harassment, fights, harmful words, cyberbullying, discrimination, property damage, peer pressure). Then, T introduces key vocabulary using flashcards: violence, bullying, harassment, conflict, peer pressure, physical, verbal, emotional, aggressive, anger, behavior, resilient, struggle. Development (25 mins.) First, Ss read a short text and then decide if some statements are true or false. Then, T introduces a concept map with “School violence” in the center. It branches out to explore root causes like family dynamics, peer pressure, lack of school policies, social media influence. Ss contribute with ideas and examples. After that, T hands out a worksheet and asks Ss to identify the type of root causes of violence. T checks Ss’ answers with the whole class. Consolidation (15 mins.) Ss read a case study of a fictional student who faces bullying and answer some comprehension questions. T monitors the activity and provides help as needed. Conclusion (5 mins.) T encourages Ss to reflect on their role in creating a safer school environment. Homework: Write a short paragraph answering: What is one cause of school violence you feel strongly about? What can you do to prevent it in your school? Introduction (10 mins.) T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to match key vocabulary with their definitions. T checks Ss’ answers and provide feedback. Development (20 mins.) First, T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to complete some sentences about the effects of school violence. After that, Ss complete 4 dialogues about school violence. T checks Ss’ answers and provide feedback. Consolidation (15 mins.) Ss choose a dialogue from the previous activity and practice it to act it out. Volunteers perform their role-plays for the class. T monitors and assists with language use. Conclusion (5 mins.) T encourages Ss to reflect: How can we make our school a violence-free zone? What actions can we take to resolve conflicts without violence? Homework: Read 2 passages of school violence and answer some comprehension questions. |
