Lesson plan
Introduction (10 mins.) First, T start the lesson by asking Ss if they remember any special moments from their childhood. T encourages them to share their memories with the class. Next, T hands out a quiz to each Ss and asks them to answer it. T shows some flashcards of verbs to help them understand the questions. Then, T hands out a set of images to each S and asks them to label the verbs. Finally, T checks Ss’ answers and provide feedback. Development (20 mins.) T explains what an anecdote is: a short, personal story about something interesting or funny that happened. T provides a few simple examples of anecdotes and their characteristics. For example: “Yesterday, my dog chased its tail for five minutes”. "One time, I tripped in front of my class. Everyone laughed, but then the teacher said it happens to everyone." Key characteristics: Short and interesting. Based on real events. They are often personal. Contains a clear beginning, middle and end. After that, T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to identify which text is an anecdote and explain why. Then, T asks Ss to read a short anecdote and answer some comprehension questions. Finally, Ss put some images related to the story in order. Consolidation (15 mins.) Ss complete 4 short anecdotes using verbs in past tense. Conclusion (5 mins.) Ss write the past tense form of a list of verbs. Homework: Answer a crossword about the topic. Introduction (10 mins.) T asks volunteers to read aloud short anecdotes one at a time and encourages them to listen and identify their purposes. Ss discuss their ideas and support them. Development (25 mins.) Ss answer a short quiz about some anecdotes. Ss checks their answers in pairs before feedback. After that, T hands out some worksheet to each S and ask to decide if some statements are true or false. Ss check their answers before feedback. Consolidation (10 mins.) T asks Ss to read 5 short anecdotes and identify their purposes. Once they finished, T invites volunteers to share their answer with the class. Conclusion (5 mins.) As a class, discuss what they learned about anecdotes and their purposes. Encourage Ss to share any new words or phrases they found useful. |
