Lesson plan
Introduction (10 mins.) First, T asks Ss to say one thing they did yesterday using simple past tense (e.g., “I played soccer.”). T listens for correct use of past tense and write Ss’ answers on the board. Ss takes notes. Development (20 mins.) T shares a short, simple story about a past experience, emphasizing the reflection aspect (e.g., “Yesterday, I visited the park. It made me feel happy because I saw many beautiful birds, vibrant flowers, and children playing joyfully.”. Then, T asks Ss simple comprehension questions (e.g., “Where did I go? How did I feel? What did I see?”). T prepares flashcards with pictures of common activities (e.g., eating ice cream, having a picnic, going to the school for the first time) and corresponding emotion words (e.g., happy, excited). T asks Ss to write short sentences for each picture, using past tense and emotion words (e.g., “They played games. They felt happy.”). Consolidation (15 mins.) Ss draw a picture of a happy memory and write 2-3 sentences about it. (e.g., “I went to the beach. I played in the sand. I felt excited.”). T circulates to check sentences for correct past tense and vocabulary usage. For example: When I was 7 years old, I went to the zoo with my family. We saw many animals. My favorite was the elephant. I had a lot of fun that day. Conclusion (5 mins.) T asks volunteers share their memory drawings with the class. T asks Ss reflective questions (e.g., “Why was this a happy memory for you?”). Homework: Write a simple memory journal. Introduction (10 mins.) T shows pictures of common items (e.g., a toy, a book, a piece of clothing) and asks Ss to name them and say one sentence about each. T gives Ss examples of the sentences. For example: That is a teddy bear. When I was a child, I had one that I got for my birthday. That is a bicycle. When I was young, I had one that I rode to the park. That is a book. I had a favorite one that I read every night. That is a watch. My grandfather gave me one, and it was very special to me. Development (20 mins.) First, T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to match a list of toys with the correct memory. Then, Ss read the beginning of 5 short stories and then match them with the correct ending. Consolidation (15 mins.) T asks Ss to write a brief description of a memory associated with an item. T circulate the classroom to offer help and ensure Ss are using the past tense and vocabulary correctly. In pairs, Ss read their descriptions to each other and give positive feedback. Conclusion (5 mins.) T asks volunteers to read their descriptions to the class. T provides positive reinforcement and gentle corrections as needed. Homework: Write another brief description of a different memory and bring it to the next class. |
