Introduction (15 mins.) First, T hands out a poem to each S and reads it aloud. T asks Ss to listen carefully. Next, T and Ss recite the lines of the poem together one by one with proper stress and intonation. Finally, T asks Ss some questions:
Development (20 mins.) T hands out a worksheet to each pair of Ss and asks them to match the elements of poems with the examples. T checks Ss’ answers with the class, explaining where necessary. After that, Ss match the vocabulary related to poems with the descriptions and label the main parts of a poem. Consolidation (10 mins.) T writes a short poem on the board and asks Ss to complete a table with its parts. T asks volunteers to share their answer with the class. T provides feedback to Ss. Conclusion (5 mins.) T reviews the main parts of the poem and key vocabulary and provide positive feedback and encouragement to Ss. Homework: Ss answer a crossword. Introduction (5 mins.)

First, T hands out a short text to each pair of Ss and asks them to match a list of words with their definitions. After that, T asks Ss to read a poem and circle the words that they do not know and look them up in a dictionary. Ss read the poem again and answer some comprehension questions. Consolidation (15 mins.) Ss complete a poem. Once they finished, T asks volunteers to share their answer with the class. Conclusion (10 mins.) Ss read a poem and visually represent the main idea of each stanza through drawings. Homework: Complete a poem. |
