Session 1

Introduction (10 mins.)
T uses flashcards to introduce famous theater plays. T writes a list of them on the board. Next, T shows each flashcard one by one and elicits their names.  
T shows again the flashcards and elicits from Ss vocabulary related to them, such as actor, costume, stage, scene, act, protagonist, setting, director, curtains, audience, etc. T writes the Ss’ answers on the board.
Development (20 mins.)
T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to match the theater vocabulary with the images. 
After that, Ss complete some sentences about theater plays using key vocabulary. 
Finally, Ss match vocabulary key about theater plays with their definitions. T checks Ss’ answers with the whole class.
Consolidation (10 mins.)
Ss answer a crossword using the key vocabulary.
Conclusion (10 mins.)
Ss identify key vocabulary from their descriptions.
Homework: Create a Pictionary of 12 vocabulary words learned in class. Practice pronouncing and memorizing the words at home.

Session 2

Introduction (5 mins.)
T uses flashcards to introduce theatrical genres. T shows each flashcard one by one and elicits from Ss the genres. Next, T reads aloud a list of vocabulary related to each genre. Ss must identify them and classify them into the genres saying their responses.
Development (25 mins.)
T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to match the definitions with the theatrical genres.   
After that, Ss read characteristics of genres of theater and classify them into their correct genre.
Next, Ss read synopsis of different theater plays and asks Ss to identify the genres.
Finally,  Ss read some dialogues from those synopses and match them with the correct genre. T checks Ss’ answers with the whole class.
​Consolidation (15 mins.)
T assign each team a different theatrical genre (e.g., comedy, tragedy, drama, horror) with their synopsis and dialogues. Ss create and perform a short role-play based on the given genres. T encourages Ss to assign the characters to their partners and practice the dialogues. The others can be extras. Each team presents their role-play.
Conclusion (10 mins.)
T provides feedback to Ss.
Homework: Assign reading materials or short videos related to theatrical genres for further exploration and discussion in the next class.
