Introduction (10 mins.) T labels a chart on the board with the following headings: reality show, cartoons, drama, sitcom, news travel, documentary, cookery and soap opera. Ss infer the topic of the class. Under these headings, T asks Ss to write down examples they know of the different genres. Development (15 mins.) T asks Ss to match a list of TV genres with their characteristics. Then, Ss classify a list of TV programs into each genre. Consolidation (20 mins.) T asks Ss to talk about their favorite TV program and scene. Ss might not be able to express their ideas or opinions in English, help if needed by promoting collaborative work and the use of prompts, such as:
Closure (5 mins.) SS discuss what TV program they would like to talk about for their project. T explains to Ss that the product to be developed is an oral presentation about a TV show they would really like to talk about. Time filler: “Talking about TV preferences” - Ss asks a classmate his/her TV preferences by filling out a survey. Homework: Ss bring more information about their favorite program. Ss have to include images. Introduction (10 mins.) T elicits from Ss the TV audiences. T asks Ss which TV programs their family members usually watch. Development (10 mins.) Ss identify the TV audiences by matching them with pictures. Then, Ss match a list of TV programs with the different audiences. Consolidation (20 mins.) Ss complete a table of TV audiences by giving examples of three different audiences. Ss describe TV audiences’ preferences by completing the following prompts:
T asks Ss to give examples of some TV programs that are restricted for children and teenagers. T invites Ss to have a class discussion. |

Introduction (10 mins.) T talks about his/her favorite TV program, where it takes place, main characters, audience, and visual and sound effects. Next, T asks Ss to answer the following questions:
T put Ss into groups and asks them to draw a chart in their notebooks with the following headings: title of the program, intended audience, main characters, place where the actions occur (setting), visual and sound effects, and emotions produced. Ss watch short segments of different TV programs. T pauses after each TV program and asks Ss to complete the above-mentioned chart. T asks Ss to name a spokesperson to share the team’s answers. Determine as a class, the length of the presentation depending on the number or teams and Ss, since every Ss has to participate. Consolidation (15 mins.) Every team chooses a TV program they like and describe it. Ss discuss their answers and share them with other teams. Closure (5 mins.) T gives feedback on the TV program elements.
