Subject pronouns

We use subject pronouns to replace nouns. Subject pronouns can be singular or plural, and they can be masculine, feminine, or gender neutral.

Subject pronoun	Who? - Singular or Plural	Masculine of Femenine
I	1st person singular	Masculine or Femenine
You	2nd person singular	Masculine or Femenine
He	3rd person singular	Masculine
She	3rd person singular	Femenine
It	3rd person singular	Neutral (Object/thing/animal)
We	1st person plural	Masculine or Femenine
They	2nd person plural	Masculine or Femenine
You	3rd person plural	Masculine or Femenine

 

Subject pronouns are used to replace the subject (person or thing) of a verb.

• My sister is 9 years old. She likes fairy tales. 
• Katherine and Susan are good friends, but they are not our best friends.

We use it when we talk about the time, weather or temperature.

• It is three o'clock. (the time)
• It was hot yesterday. (the weather)
• It is 36º outside right now. ( the temperature)

EXAMPLES

• I am John.
• You are happy.
• Tom is my son. He is 12 years old.
• This is Kelly. She is my sister.
• It is an apple.
• We don’t like sushi.
• My parents live in Spain. They often come and see us.
• Are you a couple?
