Lesson plan
Introduction (10 mins.) T introduces the topic and asks Ss if they have heard of holidays in English-speaking countries. T shows images of well-known public holidays and asks Ss to identify their names. Development (20 mins.) T hands out a worksheet to each S and asks them to match the public holidays with the images. After that, Ss match some descriptions with the public holidays. Finally, Ss complete some sentences about public holidays. Consolidation (10 mins.) T assigns one public holiday to each S and asks them to draw a simple picture representing that holiday on their notebook. Once everyone has finished their drawings, T asks some volunteers to describe their holiday’s picture with the class. Ss must guess which holiday is being described based on the drawing and description. Conclusion (10 mins.)
